Dennis' Journey at Pet Practice Romsey
Dennis eats EVERYTHING! When Dennis was four months old his owners called us worried as Dennis was off colour. His appetite had reduced, he had sporadic vomiting and worryingly was known to scavenge things he shouldn’t (butter wouldn’t melt!).
The suspicions of ingested foreign material were correct but the radiograph came as a surprise. It showed Dennis had swallowed multiple items including stones and even a bulldog clip. This degree of foreign material would require corrective abdominal surgery. Without this, blockage or perforation of the intestines was a strong possibility. Multiple intestinal incisions called enterotomies were required. Fortunately all the intestines remained healthy and resection was not needed. Post-operatively Dennis made a complete recovery over the next few days.
Dennis is now older and wiser and has (for the most part) outgrown his taste for eating things he shouldn’t!
