Salt's Journey at Pet Practice Poole

Salt was admitted for x-rays where it was found she had dislocated her hip. There were no fractures to the pelvis or hindleg. This had probably been caused by a fall and Salt would require surgery to alleviate her pain.

There are a number of surgical corrections available for this type of injury. Salt had a femoral head and neck excision. This removes the femoral head, alleviating the pain from bone on bone contact, and creates a joint made up of dense fibrous tissues. After a period of time Salt made a full recovery and is back to enjoying her daily adventures!

Salt came to us after, on returning home from her daily adventures, her owner noticed she was not placing weight through one of her hind limbs.
