Maya's Journey at Pet Practice Christchurch
Whilst playing on her regular walk Maya collided with a mini motorbike. She was admitted to the practice as she was found to be limping slightly and was also tender around her face.
Under sedation radiographs were taken. Maya had fractured her jaw in two places which would require orthopaedic surgery to stabilise. Fortunately her lameness was only bruising and no other injuries were found.
Surgery stabilised the fracture with a combination of a bilateral external skeletal fixator and also an encircling wire. Maya went home with ‘bumpers’ on for two months to allow the bones to heal. The implants were removed at a second surgery. Maya has since made a full recovery, is always happy to see us, and continues to be her normal bouncy self!
